In the wake of the 2016 Turkish coup d’état attempt, which the Turkish government blames on Gülen, the administration of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan demanded that Kyrgyzstan close down institutions affiliated with the Gülen movement.
However, the Kyrgyz government refused to comply with Ankara’s demands. In February 2017, the Turkish government announced that diplomas issued by the Ala-Too International University would no longer be valid in Turkey. Subsequently, the name of the university was changed from the International Atatürk-Alatoo University to the Ala-Too International University. The name of the organization that runs the Ala-Too International University along with 35 other schools and colleges was also changed from the Sebat Educational Foundation to the Sapat Educational Foundation. (Sapat means quality in Kyrgyz.)

MBBS/MD Fee Structure March-September 2023-2024 in ALA-TOO International University:
Fee Package for 5 years MBBS/MD Degree in ALATOO International Medical University :
There are 10 Semesters in the Ala-Too International Medical University Bishkek for an MBBS Degree.
Tuition Fee (For 1 Semester) = 2250 U$D
Hostel Fee (For 1 Semester) = 450 U$D
Note: Students will pay for Residence Permit, Medical Check, and Airport Pick up by themselves.
Special Note :
a) All the fees must be paid in US dollars upon arrival at the university.
b) Students will pay separately for visa extension charges from 2nd year to onward every year.
c) The embassy fee is about 60 dollars for a visa.
d) Food Expanses are approx. 100 dollars/month.
e) Air tickets not included in the Fee Package.
f) Invitation fee of 300 dollars in advance.
